A day with Manual
chapter 17
The prospect of failure in finding ten men, alive in the eyes of heaven, rendered Manual dejected and angry. He flew off his lid and started reproving the mankind in an angry voice.
“You serpents, who kneel before the rich and mighty, and detest the poor and weak, woe unto you for placing wealth above justice, compassion and faith. You are no different from idol-worshippers. You consider yourself more potent and prudent than your Creator. Shall the axe boast itself against that heweth with it or shall the saw magnify itself against him that cut with it? As if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up; or as if the staff should life up itself, as if it were no wood.
You presumptuous people, who were created, you claim that you were not created by the Creator. Then explain how your brain developed to its present capacity when you use only a fraction of it.
You contemptuous people, you evolved ones, you blame the evolver that he didn’t evolve you wisely. Justice, verity, stableness, temperance, magnanimity, perseverance, faith, mercy, humility, patience, courage and fortitude – the Creator expects you to posses these noble characters but you blame him for not evolving you judiciously.
You vainglorious people, you boast to rebuild the Tower of Babel and to make dwellings amongst the stars, but don’t you know that it has been said to let justice and righteousness run down as waters and let love and compassion overflow like a mighty stream. You know mighty things being ignorant of the basics.
Who among you is honest? Who among you don’t set traps and cast nets to harm your brethren? You don’t know what shame is.
You evil minded people, your rulers and judges are unrighteous, rebellious and companions of thieves, thirsting for gifts and rewards. The pillars of the society have withered away. You justify the wicked in return for rewards and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him. The goodness in you has been like the morning cloud and like the early dew that pass away, and like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor and like the smoke out of the chimney.
You hypocrites, you regard the scriptures holy, but don’t even care about what it says. You don’t know that what is written in it is more important than the book itself. You worry about your soul and flesh being destroyed after death, yet you yourself destroy your flesh by smoking and drinking and let the soul be filled with evil thoughts.
You consider yourself wise and prudent in your own sight, but there is no truth, no kindness and no knowledge of God in you. You swear in the name of God, talk evil, give false promises, commit murders, steal, take by force another one’s belongings, fornicate, amass deadly weapons and shed blood. You fix prices for your children and demand dowry for marriage. You bargain on the body of a dead man, obstructing the burial ceremonies. You rob the poor and the widow saying that your congregation is penniless and don’t have enough to proceed with the cases in the court. You rely on advocates and judges and not on God. All your efforts are futile. It’s all wind and nothing. Your iniquities can’t be hid by the costly attire you wear.
You fools, the land cries because of you. Men and the animals of field and the fowls in the air are tired of polluted air. They die of sickness. The earth suffers warming. The lakes and brooks are emptied and dried up. The plant life withers away. Foul smell and pollutants make water unfit for drinking. The fishers mourn. Those spreading nets and casting fishing rods laments. The fishes die and become extinct. Sound pollution has become unbearable. You have made the earth unfit to live. You consider drinking water a saleable good and exploit the thirsty.
You blinds, you let blinds lead you. People suffer of ignorance. The priests have also become like common folk. You consider everlasting life as your birth right. You had promised to work in the vineyards yet when the time came you have refused to acknowledge your promise. Are you worthy to unloosen the sins of even one man for their righteousness have exceeded your righteousness.
You who lack foresight, don’t you know that the days are near when the poor in spirit attain the Kingdom of Heaven and they that mourn shall be comforted and the meek shall inherit the earth and those who do hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled and the merciful shall obtain mercy and the pure in heart shall see God and the peace makers shall be called the children of God and those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake shall attain the Kingdom of Heaven. And you wicked people, beware for you have been besieged by your own deeds and words.
You of little faith who don’t repent, who will save you from the impeding judgement? Do you have any reason, even a single reason, so that your rights on the everlasting life is granted to you? Do you have an excuse so that you are not cast into the fire of Hell? Don’t be under the impression that you have Jesus as your Xavier for he will save only those who believe in him. Who is a believer of the Christ, you ask yourself for when the Son of Man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. And before him shall be gathered all nations and he shall separate them one from another as a shepherd divide his sheep from his goats. Those who don’t give food to the hungered, those who don’t give water to the thirsty, those who don’t clothe the naked, those who don’t comfort the sick and the downtrodden, those who don’t accept a refugee shall be gathered as goats on his left side and they shall go away into everlasting punishment. If you are to be among those on his right side, the righteous that enter into life eternal, then repent. Turn around and become as humble, innocent and happy as a child. Because there are many who don’t know Christ, yet they follow his teachings being filled with good thoughts and deeds. Thus they fulfill the wishes of the Father in heaven. They will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven before you. And your vanity will fail you. Every idle word that you speak shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by your words shall you be justified and by your words shall you be condemned.
Lo, the axe is laid unto the root of the tree. Therefore every tree that doesn’t bear good fruits shall be hewn down and cast into the fire. The chaff shall be separated and burned. And the wheat shall be gathered into the barn.”
